A STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON REPURPOSING YOUR CANDLE VESSELS
Before you start, here's what you'll need:
1. Pop your candle jar in the freezer for 1-2 hours
This will help harden the leftover wax, making it brittle & easier to get out of the jar.
2. safely using a knife, break up the excess wax left in jar
Don’t stab it because you don’t want to break or chip the cold glass. Firmly pressing the knife tip into the wax should cause it to break apart into chunks. You can either discard these chunks or use them in a wax melter to extend the life of your candle.
3. use your fork to gently pry up the metal wick tab
Turn jar with one hand while pulling up gently on each edge until tab comes loose. Discard wick tab.
4. using tweezers, carefully peel off all labels from jar
Peel slowly and firmly to get it off all in one piece. These labels are made from thick, durable vinyl that's protected from scratches, water & sunlight. This also makes them removable, and will either leave no sticky residue or very little on the jar, and the residue comes off easily with a sponge, hot water, and soap.
5. wash your jar of any excess soot or leftover wax
Make sure your jars are at room temperature before cleaning the jars thoroughly, using hot water & dish soap, scrubbing off any remaining debris.
6. dry jar with a paper towel
Buff them a little to get rid of any fingerprints.
7. pick the perfect use for your new repurposed jar
The possibilities are endless, but here’s some of our favorite uses:
plants, pens/pencils, bobby pin/hair ties, q-tip/cotton balls, spices, nuts & bolts, drinks, extra coins, candy/nuts, office supplies, & buttons!
