HOW A CANDLE CAN LIGHT UP YOUR DAY: IN THE MORNING

It delights me to know how much adding a lit candle to my different daily routines makes a difference in what our day looks like over here!  This is a peek into my personal daily morning routine! The options for including a candle are pretty endless but this is how I like to do it.

I, by nature, am not a morning person. Because of that, I have to curate a morning routine for myself that makes me want to get out of bed! (Or makes it not so bad once I decide to.) This not only boosts my mood and creates a more productive day, it also benefits my general mental health as it makes the space for ME time which is pretty rare as a mama of a rambunctious toddler.

First thing is first, during the week I plug my phone across the room from where I am sleeping so that I have to physically get up to turn my alarm off! Once I’m out of bed, I am way more likely to stay that way.  On the weekends, I often allow myself to sleep in a bit because I also enjoy doing that and mama’s allowed to treat herself once in a while too!

Once out of bed, I love to start my day with a cup of coffee and a freshly lit candle. I put the coffee on to brew and then in terms of candles, I like to choose something citrusy and fresh in the morning, and I highly recommend our best seller Mint Nectarine, or something launching tonight in our new Spring Collection -- Sweet Grapefruit! If you’re not into strong citrus, I also like Freshly Brewed, which is essentially a delicious cup of coffee in candle form.  Choosing a bright or energizing scent helps me to stay motivated and is actually an essential part of my general routine.

Once a candle is lit and my coffee is brewed, I get cozy in my chair and do something for myself!  That usually looks like writing a quick journal entry or enjoying a few chapters in one of my current reads.  I continue on with my self-care time until my toddler wakes for the day. Once everyone is awake, we enjoy breakfast and I move on to get some work done while I pull out an intentional activity to keep him busy and engaged for a bit.

As the morning draws to a close, I typically blow out my candle of choice and get ready to transition into the afternoon portion of our day.

There are so many ways to utilize a candle in your morning routine, and we would love to hear if you include one in yours!  Let us know in a comment below and look out for the next post in this series with a look inside a daily afternoon routine.

I am a great believer in calm morning routines to help to set forth the tone of the day. I have a morning candlelight ritual that I follow before delving into work.
