Stockist Spotlight: The Farm Bakery and Events

In the world of candles, we are all too familiar with the struggle of committing to purchasing a candle online when you can't physically hold it in your hands and give it a few good sniffs. When placing an order on our website, our loyal customers rely solely on our product descriptions, reviews from past customers, and trusting their instincts when it comes to picking out their favorite everyday candle. Luckily for you, we don't make bad smelling candles!

However, thanks to the nearly 300 retailers throughout the United States that stock our candles, many of our customers are able to give those candles a test drive before taking one home! Without them, we are like a candle with no smell. And because we appreciate our retailers so very much, we wanted to create a segment focused on shining a light back on them!

Today, I'd like to introduce to you The Farm Bakery and Events, a darling bakery and event space in Quakertown PA. The Farm is owned by Becca Lynde, who is passionate about blessing others through sharing old fashioned baked good recipes and teaching others the joy of cooking through classes. Today we are so very excited to get to know Becca and the heart behind The Farm.

1. When did you open the doors to the Farm?
Both the Bakery and our Wedding Venue opened in 2016!
2. When did you know you wanted to open a brick & mortar store?

So at this time we do not have a set brick & mortar store, however we open our Farm Pantry on select days and during holidays for our build your own gourmet gift basket stations. We started this during COVID because events in our new smaller space were paused. This allowed our little business to add a new revenue stream, bring more people to The Farm and offer some beautiful handmade gifts from PA outside of our bakery items. Candelles candles were a great addition to our Pantry!
3. How many years has the Farm been in business?
We are in our 5th year of operations!

4. What are your top 3 favorite items to sell at The Farm?
Scones, Apple Dumplings and Gourmet Gift Baskets!
5. What is your best selling Candelles candle that you carry?
Fig & Sugar, Rosemary & Pine
6. Do you have your own personal favorite Candelles scent?
Cactus Flower, Rosemary & Pine, Citrus Thyme -- it's so hard to pick, they are all amazing!

7. What is the most fulfilling part of owning the Farm?
Getting to work with our Wedding Couples and witnessing two families come together to celebrate marriage. It never gets old seeing the bride walk down the aisle. I get the chills every time and it's so amazing to see the new life that each couple brings to The Farm. Every weekend our Farm is truly transformed into a new place. We are blessed to be in a position to serve couples on such a special day.
8. What are some of the things you look for in a brand when stocking a new line?
Definitely local brands and even better close to our Farm! It's so nice to support small business owners and their passions!
9. Do you have any new projects in the works for the future of the Farm?
We have had such a blast improving our Flour Cart over the past year, from expanding our bakery menu to adding new adorable seating options outside with fire pits, picnic tables, umbrellas, and more! There are always ongoing projects both to our facilities and in expanding our menu, and we can't wait to see the Farm continue to flourish!

10. Have there been unexpected lessons you've learned while running the Farm?
Oh my, too many to list. But most of all it's to be adaptable to change, to truly love everyone and to always stay humble.
11. What does an average day at the Farm consist of for you?
Everything from weeding, watering our gardens, planting flowers, cleaning, prepping, accounting, emails, phone calls, meetings and more. I came from a corporate job and what I love most about the Farm is every day is a new adventure.
12. Do you host any community events or workshops at the Farm?
We don't host community events or workshops regularly yet - but we certainly hope to do more, especially now that we are moving back towards being able to gather together as a community again! The best way to keep an eye on our calendar for public events or workshops is on our social media - namely our Facebook page! We always put together a Facebook Event if we have something coming up. :)
13. What has been the most challenging part of owning your own brick & mortar store?
Keeping my work-life balance in check. I love to work and I always have to remind myself that there is life outside of work. It's a daily prayer that I pray, 'God give me wisdom to know when to rest and when to work and when to be with my family'!
