The Perfect Pour Over With Commonplace Coffee!

It's no secret that we're more than a little obsessed with our new can vessels - not only do these adorable new containers give your favorite everyday candle a beautiful, elevated look when you light them up in your home but they're also our new favorite thing to find clever ways to repurpose!  (You can find our guide to giving your Candelles jars a second life here!) After giving these new can vessels a good cleaning, we couldn't help but imagine them as the dreamiest new drinkware, perfect for enjoying a drool-worthy coffee in.  I mean, they are basically begging for it, right?

We are so excited to show you how to craft the perfectly indulgent hazelnut pour over to get those creative juices flowing and inspire you to give your empty Candelles can vessels a new life, and we are even more excited to be using our favorite beans from Commonplace Coffee right here in Pittsburg to create this delicious drink!  We used their Ceiba Guatemala Blend - we love it for it's smooth, graham cracker and chocolatey taste which pair perfectly with the hazelnut and vanilla goodness going on in this delectable drink! Our hazelnut pour over is perfect hot for a warm morning treat, or iced for that perfect afternoon indulgence (and we'll show you how to make it both ways)!

When making the perfect coffee shop worthy pour over, there are a few things to keep in mind, the first of which is allowing your coffee to bloom.  Never heard that term before?  Don't worry, it was new to me prior to making this drink too!  Blooming is the process in which your coffee beans release Carbon Dioxide or CO2 (if you've ever noticed your coffee bubbling up in a pour over this is the blooming process, those bubbles are the beans releasing CO2!).  This is an important process as Carbon Dioxide has a sour flavor, which isn't what we want in our perfectly brewed cup of coffee!  The second game changing tip is to  pre-wet your coffee filter.  Adding just a little water to your filter before adding in your ground coffee beans helps with the bloom and allows for the flavor of the coffee to really come out making this even more of a tasty treat!
